A Blog Find (Midwest)

Quickly, I stumbled upon this blog and found it to be very inspirational. I've been wanting to add more links in the graphic design links section of our blog, but haven't found many yet. Check it out.

Update (West Coast)

Hello there. Things out here have been busy as well with a traveling husband too. I did get that freelance job, and I have spent the morning working up to starting it. I have been doing the inspiration run. Flagging things I like, and that inspire more ideas. The client is an woman acupuncturist, who specializes in whole body health. She does massage, and physical training as well. She has a card and logo that a friend designed, and she isn't sold on the look. I am doing a postcard mailer, stationery, and prescription notepad for her. She would also like a new logo, card and brochure. She has a limited budget since she is just starting out, but would like materials that look nice. I should have a direction in a few days and I will post it when we return from our trip (to Tahoe).

First Card (Midwest)

Hello, hello. Long time no post. I've been busy dealing with kids, weather, traveling husband, school events, etc. Even though my schedule has been super ultra busy, I've been stealing away for 30 minutes here and 45 minutes there to work on my soon to be new business endeavor. I'm calling my "company" Bee 13 Paper Goods. I set up email (bee13papergoods@yahoo.com) and will "do business" via that and my Etsy shop. I've even started a logo, but am not sure how I will use it. Maybe as a sticker.

I'm just happy to be thinking creatively about work-related stuff. I'm also getting to know my new Print Gocco. The image at the top is a two color print that I ran on 60 greeting cards. I sketched an illustration, scanned it, redrew it in Illustrator, played with color, ran separations which I then traced with the special carbon pens that come with the Gocco. I imaged screens from those drawings. It sounds like a lot of steps, but it was easy and satisfying. I've had a couple printing mishaps and learned a lot. I've made many sketches and designs on the computer, and have been researching packaging, pricing and shipping. I really have missed being busy with work especially the brainstorming part. I have a few freelance projects in progress and it is so fulfilling.

Anyway, I'm thinking about spring and new projects. Miss Laurie, what is up with you? Did you get that new freelance project? Will you post soon?
