Getting Ready (Midwest)

I'm up late working on bagging up some cards. I also spent some time honing my design for my packaging. I needed something simple that has my company logotype, product info, copyright, and some other misc text. I also need it to be inexpensive to produce and quick and easy to put together. This is where I'm at. A clear cello bag taped shut and a side sticker that wraps with text front and back. Vertical cards have a sticker at the top, horizontal cards at right. You can't tell in this photo so much, but I feel that the whole package looks very clean. Now I need to build up some inventory and hit the pavement.

Cards for Shop (Midwest)

I printed up a bunch of greeting cards yesterday. I'm listing them in my Etsy shop. You check boxes to customize the greeting for the occasion and recipient. I used the eraser end of a pencil to stamp the one above. I'm going to print these in different colors and also make some matching gift tags. This is so much fun. I hope I actually sell something!

On another exciting bit of news. I signed up for a weekend letterpress workshop at the Minnesota Center for Book Arts for mid May. It's finally time to get some hands on letterpress experience. Could be a future business path. Ya never know.

Exhibit (Midwest)

I was doing my usual morning blog and flckr sites check and saw that The Random Project folks have a photo up already for the exhibit of random postcards. I found mine. How fun!

Consumed (Midwest)

I have been working away on a few "art" projects this week. This is my entry for the Random Postcard exhibition. Hundreds (if not thousands?) of people are participating by creating postcards from assigned random words. I was given the word "consume" as my subject. I was interested addressing human consumption of The Earth's resources. I wanted the negative space in background to represent hills but also a person consuming the foreground. My card is printed on a grocery bag (normally used to hold consumables). This was to be (an mine certainly was) a quick and loose interpretation.

Next, I need to finish my print for the Periodic Table Print Project. My dad was in California this last week and has some photos that I might want to incorporate into my portrayal of element #98, Californium.
